Employers Forum on Business Supports - Book Your Place Now!

We are running an event for employers and business people in the North East Region. This forum will provide information and advice regarding the financial and practical supports available to employers and small enterprise. The event takes place on the 5th March 2013, in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dundalk and is supported by the Louth County Enterprise Board and the Louth Local Authorities Business Support Unit.

MOMENTUM to roll out in 2013

Launched in December 2012 Momentum will support the provision of free education and training projects to allow 6,500 jobseekers (who are unemployed for 12 months or more) to  gain skills and to access work opportunities in identified growing sectors. 
MOMENTUM will provide eligible jobseekers with

  • Access to a range of quality education and training projects
  • Links to identified job vacancies and employers
  • Work placement and support
  • Relevant industry and NFQ (National Framework of Qualifications) Certification.

Employment Supports in Recent Budget

Work is being undertaken to finalise the PlusOne initiative, which is intended to encourage employers to hire individuals that are long-term unemployed. It is envisaged that this new incentive will replace the Revenue Job Assist and the Employer PRSI Incentive schemes. Minister Burton announced an extra 10,000 work activation places for social welfare customers next year at a cost €11 million:

Finland Budget Proposals for 2013 - Labour Activation

The social guarantee for young people will come into force in 2013. All unemployed people under 25 years old and recently graduated unemployed people under 30 years old will be offered a job or training place or activation measure at the latest within three months of becoming unemployed. The programme will be implemented in the administrative branches of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. The Employment and Economic Development Centres will support the engagement with the labour market of young people and recent graduates.

Springboard 2012 update

A general breakdown of some of the 6000 Springboard places offered to jobseekers for Springboard 2012 was announced yesterday. The places are distributed across 220 different programmes including ICT, medical devices, the green economy, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, and international financial services, siix sigma, lean and quality systems, international selling, languages, business start-up and entrepreneurship skills. There are 36 institutes of technology, universities and private higher education colleges across Ireland involved.

Worklink has just discovered a great resource, Gradireland TV. There are some great new videos from the gradireland Summer Fair. Presentations on accessing the hidden jobs market, CVs and applications and using social networks to get hired – presented by leading careers experts Sinead English, Rowan Manahan and Paul Mullan.
